A RESPONSE TO THE PROGRESSIVE CHRISTIANITY MOVEMENT.

WRITTEN BY CHARISSA GRIFFITH

Over the past several years,
one of the topics that has caused righteous zeal to rise up in me like almost no other
is the topic of worldly/progressive Christianity.

Let me state this clearly:
This brand of Christianity is not actually Christianity at all.
It is a completely false gospel proclaiming a false version of Jesus.
This gospel is, in my observation, completely void of the fear of the Lord
and does not know Jesus as the Righteous One, nor the Holy One nor the Judge.

I recently saw a Facebook post from someone I went to college with
that once again stirred me and inspired me to write a fresh blog on the topic.
This is unfortunately not an uncommon occurrence.

There is much deception and demonic doctrine infiltrating the Church.
You don’t have to look far beyond fellow Christian college graduates to see the very bad fruit that is being born as a result of it.

I want to share with you some context of this post I am referring to
so that you can rightly understand issues this blog directly addresses.

This Facebook post I am referring to presented several pictures from a
Pride celebration hosted by the church this person attends and part of the caption read as such:

“Having been out the past two years as bisexual, to have begun this year’s Pride at a church, a church that feeds, houses, and strengthens me… Queer belonging is so healing.
Queer belonging as a follower of Christ, held by the Body of Christ - this is the Kingdom of God.
Don’t get it twisted - God’s love is limitless, which when you think about it, is pretty queer in and of itself.”

This description of the Kingdom of God is so soaked in deception and perversion
- and unfortunately there is a very popular proclamation and acceptance of this kind of gospel in our culture right now.

It must be addressed by those who truly belong to Jesus.
This gospel does not lead to life.
This gospel that misguidedly attempts to open doors to many
actually shuts the doors of the Kingdom of God to many.

This false gospel is catapulted forth promising life to many,
but it is actually a stumbling block and a hindrance that keeps people from inheriting eternal life.

Though it boasts to be so, this gospel is not loving,
because it does not and will never lead anyone to life eternal.
It boasts of love for God, but it is drenched in nothing but love of self.
It proclaims to celebrate God, but it actually celebrates worldliness and sin.

There is only one gospel that has the power to save & it is the true gospel of Jesus Christ as proclaimed in the Scriptures.
A church that embraces and celebrates the same things the world embraces and celebrates does not belong to the true body of Christ.

A description of “the kingdom of God” that celebrates unrighteousness and falsehood
is not the true Kingdom of God.

Do not be deceived.

Jesus never celebrates sin.
He is the Lamb of God who came to take away sin (John 1).

Jesus does not rejoice in falsehood, perversion or crookedness.
He takes no pleasure in wickedness but rejoices in the truth (1 Corinthians 13).

He is not pleased with those who testify falsely of His character and Kingdom.
The Lord hates a false witness who utters lies (Proverbs 6).

He is not pleased with those speaking peace to a compromised people.

“For from the least to the greatest of them,
everyone is greedy for unjust gain; and from prophet to priest, everyone deals falsely.
They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.

Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I punish them, they shall be overthrown,” says the Lord. Thus says the Lord: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Pay attention to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not pay attention.’

Therefore hear, O nations, and know, O congregation, what will happen to them. Hear, O earth; behold, I am bringing disaster upon this people, the fruit of their devices, because they have not paid attention to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it. What use to me is frankincense that comes from Sheba, or sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices pleasing to me. Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will lay before this people stumbling blocks against which they shall stumble; fathers and sons together, neighbor and friend shall perish.’”

Jeremiah 6:13-21 ESV

Your worship will not be acceptable
nor pleasing to the Lord as long as you reject His words, His laws and His truth.

Return to the ancient paths.
God hasn’t made new ones to compliment the age we are living in.

There’s still one narrow path by which we enter the Kingdom (Matthew 7).
There’s still only One Way to the Father (John 14).

The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6, Galatians 5)
- but the righteous will inherit the Kingdom:

Those who have been washed and made new by the blood of the spotless, innocent, blameless, unstained and holy Lamb of God.
Those who have been transferred from the domain of darkness to the kingdom of His Son (Colossians 1).
Those who have come out of darkness and into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2).
Those who have put to death the sinful deeds of the flesh and instead walk according to the Spirit.
Those who are being conformed into His image, not the world’s (Romans 8, Romans 12).

God has not changed.
And He never will.
He doesn’t accept today what He judged in the past.
He doesn’t rejoice in today what He took no pleasure in yesterday.

Hear him,
hear His warning and walk in His ways.

Don’t be one who is found prophesying lies in His name.
Don’t be found proclaiming what is false as if it were God’s truth.

Don’t proclaim or put up with another gospel.
Don’t prophesy by another spirit.
The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy and if you testify to another version of Jesus,
your prophetic declaration is actually anti christ and demonic.

“For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband,
to present you as a pure virgin to Christ. But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning,
your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness.
Their end will correspond to their deeds.”

2 Corinthians 11:2-4, 13-15 ESV

There is a deep woe and judgment from the heart of God
for those who exchange and interchange evil for good.

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,
who put darkness for light and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”

Isaiah 5:20 ESV

His scepter is one of uprightness.
He will not be mocked.
His Church, His Bride,
shall not rejoice in wickedness.

He will have a Bride that is holy and set apart for Him,
washed by the water of His Word and standing firm in truth and walking in righteousness.

Any ‘member of His Body’ that ignores or deletes or reassigns meaning to (any part of) His Word,
accepts falsehood, and walks proudly in unrighteousness does not truly belong to Him.

His name is Faithful and True and He will come with a sword in His mouth
and He will judge the living and the dead (Revelation 19, 2 Timothy 4, 1 Peter 4).

Don’t be found proclaiming His name yet denying who He truly is when He comes.
If you are walking this way, He will come like a thief in the night,
you will shrink back in shame when He comes in His righteousness
& in His great glory and power.

Turn from falsehood now and rejoice in His truth… not yours, not the world’s.

“Do not love the world or the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—
is not from the Father but is from the world.

And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.

But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. I write to you, not because you do not know
the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father.

Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also. Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that he made to us—eternal life. I write these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you.

But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him. And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.
If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.”

1 John 2:15-29 ESV

Jesus loves righteousness and hates wickedness.
He does not confuse nor blend the two.
He will not redefine what is right and what is wicked.

“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness;
you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness.
Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions;”

Psalm 45:6-7

Likewise, those who have truly been born of Him and those who truly belong to Him
will love righteousness and hate wickedness.

“Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.
You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you.

Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.”

1 John 3:4-10 ESV

“But the Lord of hosts is exalted in justice,
and the Holy God shows himself holy in righteousness.”

Isaiah 5:16
